Just over a week ago we reported that Sens.  Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY, Cory Booker, D-NJ, and Rand Paul, R-KY, proposed a bill called the The Compassionate Access, Research Expansion, and Respect States (CARERS) Act, that would allow the federal government to reclassify marijuana as a Schedule II drug.  Today it was announced that we have Sens. Dean Heller, R-NV, and  Barbara Boxer, D-CA have thrown their support behind this measure as well.

Currently the 23 states that allow for medical marijuana are acting in violation of federal law.  While federal raids against dispensaries and their affiliators have decreased drastically, its still a fear that many have.  Patients in 23 states have access to medicine that truly helps them.  Responsible adults of absolutely every walk of life can’t truly be free with the federal cloud hanging above the entire situation.  Businesses in 23 states are not able to use any form of banking for their income and expenses,

That’s not to mention the 37 states where people can still be deprived of medicine, and have their lives turned upside down or worse for using marijuana.  People live in fear and it doesn’t have to be that way.  Families are destroyed and it doesn’t have to be that way.

The current set of laws are wrong, and it doesn’t have to be that way.

We’ll keep you updated as more and more and more senators get on board!
