Introducing the QuickDraw 300 DLX.  Finally a pen vape that works for herbs.

Revenge of the vape

Would you believe it if I said some company finally figured out the secret to having a 3-way pen system that actually worked?  There have been so many attempts in the past three years to create a small form factor device that can efficiently vape herbs without combusting them, as well as eLiquids and waxs/shatters/crumbles, etc, and they have all failed.

Enter QuickDraw.  With a very smart and user-friendly design, the QuickDraw 300 DLX is ushering in a new era of portable vaporizers.  Not only does it look great, the DLX 300 performs so well, it has us re-thinking our daily drivers.   Why carry around big bulky vapes when the 300 DLX can truly do it all?

DESIGN

The 300 DLX uses this awesome system where the battery portion can read the bottom of the individual cartridges, and adjust its power output accordingly.  The lack of this capability is why previous attempts at this have failed.

The cartridges are magnetic, so swapping them is super simple, You can be in the middle of enjoying your 300 DLX as an eCig, and instantly pop in an herb cart for a little lift, and before you’ve exhaled you’ve loaded your wax cart and are now ready to blast your face off.  It’s so quick and easy, and it works so well.

FUNCTION

First I wanted to see what the 300 DLX could do with herbs.  This is the last frontier for vaporizers, being able to correctly vaporizer herbs in a pen form factor.  None, and I repeat none of the previous attempts have worked without MacGyvering some crazy setup only to get extremely poor results.  The chamber was smaller than I had hoped, but hey, it’s a pen.  Loading was tricky and not something you want to do while riding in a car, but its workable.  A little funnel would be nice, or maybe a smoother lip around the top of the chamber.

Wanna see how perfectly the herbs were vaped? Watches you the video!

Spoiler alert if you haven’t watched the video yet:  It turned my nice lime green herbs into a perfect golden brown.  But…the vapor cloud that the 300 DLX produced…good gawd damn and other such phrases, I haven’t seen a portable do that in ages!  (hat tip to Scroobius Pip)

Then came the wax cartridge.  Of course I loaded too much, but I wasn’t taking any chances after the herbal vapor show, I need to put this thing to the test.  So with some Blue Cheese crumble I let it rip.  I was begging for mercy before I finished exhaling.  The 300 DLX is slowly climbing into the daily driver spot.  My only true complaint is that it doesn’t hold enough.  I’d like to be able to load a days worth of wax, but his just can’t hold that much.

The liquid cart performed exactly as we expected to.  The atomizer is on point, and only tasted exactly what we loaded.  We don’t have any information about cartridge lifespan yet, but after two weeks it’s still going strong.

QuickDraw 300 DLX

Its a great looking pen, and it works better than any other 3-way.

The magnetic charging cable. This should be the industry standard. It’s so simple, it just works.  There’s not much more we can say about it that.  Oh…yes there is.  It also works with pass through, so you can use it while its charging.  We are quickly falling in love with the QuickDraw.

QuickDraw 300 DLX

The ‘mag lock’ charging system works as well as the rest of the system does…perfectly.

Overall I was absolutely shocked at the QuickDraw 300 DLX.  A completely intuitive design, excellent form, and most importantly, top-shelf function.  If it had a carrying case to hold everything, I’d have to call it perfect!

Solid unit! I grabbed this on Cyber Monday for a deal based off your review, and man I love this thing. Being able to get off smoking cigs and go to e-liquid on the QD300 while being able to vape dry herbs on the same device is incredibly convenient.

Nice idea, but I’ve found that these pens don’t really work well for extract or flower. Plain and simple it just doesn’t work. Haven’t tried the liquid cartridge but I know you can get a liquid ecig for much cheaper than this. Really this is about the most expensive vape pen on the market, and for the price I would expect much higher quality and better functionality. Don’t waste your money, just get a cheap pen that will work just as well if not better. Also their company seems very disorganized at every level, and cares more about sending lots of tweets and artsy pictures than offering a quality product, keeping up with inventory, or providing half-decent customer service.

Well you certainly are having quite the opposite experience that I’ve had. I haven’t found a pen that can vape herbs so perfectly as the 300. I had extremely low expectations, considering no pen had accomplished this before. None. The wax cartridge definitely works as well, but its clear that this isn’t supposed to equal a rig, but rather a discreet alternative when you out and about. Personally, I can’t use the wax cart, as I just need to use it too much. Its definitely not for wax-heads as their daily driver. But for the occasional user? Its absolutely perfect, so says my occasional user girlfriend.

Its understandable that you would be frustrated that you’re having functional issues, and furthermore aggravating when you don’t get the support you are expecting. I would try and give it one more chance, maybe you talked to someone who was having a bad day. It happens. My experience with the company has been prompt, professional and they bent over backwards to help me before I ever reviewed the product.

Give it another go. Chances are, they are going to help you resolve this to your liking. I test these products aggressively, and am not afraid to call out a company that doesn’t deliver on ALL levels. That simply hasn’t been the case with QuickDraw.

Is it that surprising that their customer service dept would go the
extra mile for somebody who writes for a vaporizer review website? I’m
guessing the level of service you received was far above the level of
service I received. However, I am the common consumer, and therefore my
experience was probably much more indicative of their overall customer
service approach than yours. As such, my experience is probably much
more likely for other common consumers that may be thinking about
dropping over 100 dollars on this product.

        I’m glad yours works
and you’ve had a good experience, but I hope that your readers aren’t
expecting their experience to be the same.

        • vaporizersreviewed

As I stated, my impression of their treatment was prior to reviewing the product; to provide you more clarity, it was also before they had any idea I was a reviewer. As part of my review process, I approach companies as a Cecil Citizen, for this very reason. I just takes a curious email or a quick chat online to develop *some* impression of what they are all about. I want to see who is on their game from many angles, not just the vape. You’ll probably notice I don’t really do shitty vapes on this site. I don’t want to waste my time on things…that I feel aren’t worth YOUR time. I could show you the pile of vapes I am sent that are actually complete bullshit.

QuickDraw, I felt, clearly wasn’t one of those.

I realize you’re not happy with your product, but you have provided absolutely no evidence as to what is wrong, suggestions on how to fix it, or proposals as to what QuickDraw could do differently. It just ‘doesn’t work’ . To anyone who reads your comment, you are basically saying that since your unit that isn’t functioning properly, THEY ALL won’t function properly. Again you have provided no basis for this reasoning, other than your own unit.

You had a bad experience with support, so you are casting the whole lot out. Your frustration is understandable, but you rationale isn’t. Have you ever had a bad day? Is this the first product you have ever bought that has not met your expectations or worse not functioned as promised? No, of course not. Everything man-made and electrical fails. Cars. Smartphones. Spaceships. PAX 2’s. Everything. Its the nature of the beast and something that we all must acknowledge as consumers. Nothing is perfect, so expectations must always reflect this. This is why support, repair, and customer service departments exist.

I know that they have had returns, because they are just like every other company on earth: run by humans, who have always, and probably will always, make mistakes. What they do about it, is what defines them. You didn’t get great service, so take it up a level. Get managers emails. Owners. CEO’s. The info is out there. Use social (like you’ve done here) to try to find a resolution. But to just cast the entire company and its inventory as bunk just doesn’t hold vapor. And your comments about things unrelated to your experience (their social content) is just trollish. It doesn’t help strengthen your argument in any way, rather the opposite. Clearly they are making an effort. That effort just waned when they needed it most – which was when you contacted them. It happens.

I’m taking the time to address this because I want intelligent discussion on this site. Baseless name calling and insults…I ain’t gonna have it. I’d like to help you – or anyone else – resolve any vape issue…especially one that I have reviewed on my site. But the conversation has to be on point. Insults…well around here its come correct, or don’t come at all.

One unit does not define a company, but you are insisting that it does. If you are going to make such broad accusations, then back it up and provide evidence. That the unit wasn’t functional is fixable. That the support didn’t meet your expectations? That’s fixable too.

If you have approached QuickDraw with a discourse similar to what you have shown here, one wouldn’t be surprised that you didn’t get stellar service in return, even though you should have. No matter what – they are people. They aren’t perfect. I hope you contact them again, maybe from a different angle. Clearly the one you took didn’t work.

There is definitely a resolution to your issue out there! But going beyond complaining to attacking them on my comment section…I promise you that isn’t it. I can’t imagine QD wants anything more than to turn this situation on its head, fix your issue, learn a lesson, and send you off a happy customer.

          • Jon

I am saying that the unit that I paid over $100 dollars for does not work to vaporize extract or dry herb, and my experience with customer service has not been anywhere close to my satisfaction. Your review is also based only on the functionality of your unit and your own personal experiences, so how is that any different? I am providing my own experiences so that anyone who is reading may understand that not everybody has had such a positive experience with this pen. If you are getting ready to buy a pen you can take everybody’s experience into account, including those that have a poor experience.

As for suggestions to fix it, again I would recommend going with a cheaper vape pen rather than spending over $100 for one that, from my experience, does not work as well as a $10 dollar pen from ebay.

          • Jon

And my comment about their social media is not trolling, it is a comment about their priorities as a company– marketing over customer service– that I find displeasing. To say that my negative experience is not worth somebody knowing about when they are deciding to buy a pen sounds like the defensive reaction of somebody with stake in the company.

            • Jon

And I certainly didn’t insult you, you got defensive immediately about my providing an alternative viewpoint about this vaporizer.

  • Ella

hungry just looking at this! which cartridge is your favourite??

    • vaporizersreviewed

Definitely the herb cart. The wax cart works great, just doesn’t hold much. THe eLiquid works great too, I just don’t use it.

  • Alberto Ferran

You are one of the only few reviews for this, and it looks great. How do you clean the little carts? I agree you should sacrifice it and cut it up like the Pax and Crafty. Looking at the internals is intriguing.

    • Vape-ologist

The carts are not rebuildable, sadly. But I contacted QuickDraw and they told me that it won’t be long. Currently you have to dump the entire cartridge. Silly.

  • Steven Fry

Please show us what’s inside all these units you review, including this one!

    • Vape-ologist

I just got approval from the company, but its going to be a bit, I have other vapes in line ahead of this one!
